Calling all aspiring athletes! Today, RBC Training Ground announced its new season of qualifying events as it resumes its search for Canada’s next generation of Olympians. To date, thirteen athletes who competed at RBC Training Ground events have gone on to represent Canada at two Olympic Games; five in Beijing 2022 and eight in Tokyo 2020. Ahead of the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, as many as 20 program alumni will be vying for spots to represent Team Canada in France – and we’re excited to see this number continue to grow.
Which cities is RBC Training Ground visiting?
The 2024 season will see RBC Training Ground visit new markets in Ontario’s North (Sudbury), and Durham (Whitby), while returning once again to cities in Halton (Milton), Northern Alberta (Grande Prairie), Thompson, Man., Winnipeg, Man., Hamilton, ON., and Vancouver, B.C., with the prioritization of diverse and Indigenous communities. For a full list of dates and locations, please visit our updated schedule.
Program alumni include Avalon Wasteneys (Gold, Tokyo 2020, Rowing), Pierce LePage (reigning Decathlon World Champion) and two athletes who did not have experience in their Olympic sport until they participated in an RBC Training Ground event, Kelsey Mitchell (Gold, Tokyo 2020,Track Cycling) and Marion Thénault (Bronze, Beijing 2022, Freestyle Skiing).
