RBC Training Ground Sport-Specific Qualifying Event (Snowboard)
RBC Training Ground is expanding the program to Banff Sunshine Village Ski Resort in Alberta on May 11, 2026 for a first-of-its-kind sport-specific qualifying event. Open to snowboarders of all skill levels, this free, one-day event invites riders to discover their potential across disciplines they may not have previously considered: Alpine (racing), terrain park (freestyle), and snowboard cross. Participants will be paired with expert Canada Snowboard coaches and talent scouts who will assess raw potential per discipline – a demonstration of the program’s commitment to creating structured pathways for Olympic potential to succeed.

FAQs
Do I have to have snowboard experience to participate in the snowboard qualifier?
No, snowboard experience is not required to participate. This event is open to any athlete aged 14-25 years old looking to discover their snowboard potential. All riders will be paired with either a coach or instructor (depending on ability).
Will I be able to qualify for recruitment by other National Sport Organizations if I attend the Snowboard qualifier?
As this is a sport-specific qualifier event, athletes who attend this event will only be considered by Canada Snowboard during this assessment. If you would like to be considered by other National Sport Organizations, you will need to also register and attend an in-person qualifying event (or participate in the program’s at-home qualifying format virtually).
What do I need to bring?
Please come prepared for the weather conditions as athletes will be outside for most of the day. Though lunch will be provided, please bring your own snacks as necessary and reusable water bottle. If you already own snowboard equipment (snowboard, boots, helmet, etc), please bring with you. Should you require rentals, please indicate as such when completing your registration form.
